Private Public Space

View out of a top-deck window, Saturday 22 September 2007

I commute quite a bit. A lot of the time it’s by bus, and I’ve learned to enjoy the private moments I can have on the top deck, looking out of the window and thinking about things. Many of these posts, especially the longer ones, take their first form as thoughts I have while commuting, and then develop - usually because I don’t write the initial thoughts down - into something that hardly resembles the original idea.

In a city where hordes of people descend on Regent Street’s posh shops and make them unbearable and where you’re always forced to be on the go it’s a nice change of pace. Because I have very little private space at home and most of my time is spent with others, having that time for myself is really valuable. I get to listen to the music I want, read what I want and think freely.

Susanna challenged me to take a picture out of the nearest window and have a think about where my blog posts form. I’d like to see Joonas and Tiina do the same.
