December 31st, 2008. I find myself overjoyed upon witnessing the change of the year – one occuring eight time zones and some 15 000 kilometers from my surroundings.
Even when webcams fail due to heavy traffic a selection of radio webstreams allow a distant listener to remain under the influence of the transglobal current.
This is the time of mobility, digital nomads and third places. Distance is irrelevant. Presence is everything.
