About me
My name is Kai. If you met me and asked me where I’m from I would reply “Finland” but really that is just a convenient shorthand for “I have a complicated family and personal history that would a) bore you to tears and/or b) confuse you should I go through it, so I won’t”. So, I don’t really know where I’m from and where I’m going.
These pages hopefully document some of that, both for myself and for people I should be in touch with far more than I tend to be. I moved to London in 2009 to study for an Environmental Policy degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I’ve since then graduated and found a job and am now busy trying to find my niche.
Originally, my intention was to write about things I see and about adjusting to life in the United Kingdom. I don’t know if I have adjusted in the three years I’ve been here – I suppose I have done in many ways. I still write about my observations, experiences and feelings. Sometimes I write about what I see, or the way I think things should be.
What does ‘roguepolitical’ mean?
The domain name came to me after weeks of on-and-off thinking. I didn’t want it to be specifically limited to the current content. I wanted a descriptive, non-obvious name that described me. “Rogue political”, I feel, does that – casting me as a dapper young man with opinions that don’t necessarily fit on the traditional political stage.
I have no plans to use this website as a soapbox to promote any kind of political agenda, despite its name. But I reserve the right to cast opinion. Make of that what you will.
You, dear reader, I ask to comment freely, in any language you will think I can understand (there are a couple).
