Haha, you're absolutely right. On the pub being a social place. Absolutely. That hasn't changed at all. I mean, you've seen what a central part of life in London going to the pub holds. In fact, some friends and I have on occasion complained about it being the default (and in fact only) activity for friends.

But in terms of saving money, I think inviting some people over and having a few brewskis while whittling away time nattering about nothing in particular or watching a movie or something could work. Hell, I know I need to be more open about having people around anyway.

Congratulations on cool project! So let me get this straight: you think you can cut down on going to the pub by making your own stuff? I get the experimentation and adventure in land of beer working either way, but isn't seeing people and hanging out a big part of why you go to the pub? Of course you could just be getting old and on the lookout for excuses to, well, not go out of the house. I get that.

Of course you should (call it). Save the time of the bill though. Possibly get an Italian to do it. You could think up an incredible script for it to maximise the information you get as well. I'm sure it would be fun to do it and likely cathartic too. Once that is done you can smear the number all over the place and maximise inconvenience and annoyance for the related phone owner. Record the phone call as well so everyone can enjoy it. Could be comedy gold.
I'm terrible and vindictive.

I dread the day I'll have to replace my Doc Martens. Oh wait, that's been and gone. Because of them having completely worn-out soles I've fallen on my ass when it was icy. Ouch. But they no longer manufacture them in the UK...

But then again the trainers in the post above were made in China. So it's all the same.

I fuckin' hate shoes, shoe shopping, anything to do with them. Shoe fetishism makes me weary. I dread my shoes wearing out. In fact, last year I had to buy a new pair of shoes to put on immediately in central London because the heel of the shoe I had been wearing became too detached from the upper for even me to ignore any longer. Quite embarrassing.

It's why I wear DMs. They only wear out every few years or so. Much more economical and much less worry.

Shoes. Ugh. Fuck 'em.

My aunt lives in Bend and works for the National Forestry Service. I'm under the impression that a whole lot of Bend residents either live there part time and work in Silicon Valley, or made a shit ton of money and retired very early.
